As a Casual MRI Technologist at UPMC Somerset, you’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional imaging care to our patients. In this flexible position, you’ll perform MRI procedures with confidence and independence—without the need for constant supervision. Responsibilities

• Maintain clinical competency for all exams and equipment.
• Practice and maintain MR safety in the department.
• Identify patients using two identifiers and follow universal protocol.
• Review patient history and physician orders; apply departmental protocols for optimal imaging results.
• Prepare, label, and administer contrast as required; document patient history in the electronic record.
• Communicate instructions clearly to patients and explain procedures to alleviate concerns.
• Collaborate with physicians and team members to expedite patient care efficiently.
• Ensure exams are properly coded and tracked through RIS, archived in ISITE, and charges entered accurately.
• Perform procedures for reviewing, processing, and archiving images.
• Demonstrate professionalism, respect, and strong interpersonal skills with patients and colleagues.

• Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology, or completion of an accredited CNMT, ARMRIT or ARDMS program. 

  Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  
   
• ARRT Certificate OR American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT) OR Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC) OR Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS)
  • ARRT registry eligible technologist must obtain ARRT within 6 months of hire date.
  • MR registry must be acquired within 18 months of the date the primary registry was acquired or date of hire if primary registry is already obtained
  • CNMT, ARDMS and ARMRIT graduates must obtain MR registry within 12 months of hire date.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
• Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
• Act 33 with renewal
• Act 34 with renewal
• Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
