Portal Therapeutics is an early clinicalstage biotechnology company and the lead program in GondolaBios portfolio. Portal is developing a novel potential bestinclass therapy for erythropoietic protoporphyria, a severe genetic disease of the blood that results in extreme sensitivity to sunlight and liver damage.
Who You Are
We seek an entrepreneurial scientist to drive the biology and translational research for Portal Therapeutics. You will support strategy and direction, assay development, mouse model experimentation, preclinical dose guidance, regulatory document writing (including INDs), and other translational biology and pharmacology experiments through a combination of internal and external efforts. Excellent communication, interpersonal, technical, and scientific skills are essential.
Requirements and Responsibilities
- Support critical translational studies that further elucidate the mechanism, biology, and understanding of the Portal drug.
- Support biology, pharmacology, and translational research for Portal.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the biology and pharmacology of the relevant disease area and treatment approaches.
- Manage relationships with CROs for efficient execution of all the preclinical and translational studies.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams, including DMPK, toxicology, clinical development, and regulatory, to advance our therapeutic candidates through clinical development in a fastpaced, dynamic environment.
- Represent the program scientifically to internal and external audiences.
- Contribute to due diligence and gap analysis on potential new GondolaBio assets.
Education, Experience & Skills Requirements
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or related discipline with 6+ years of industry experience in bioanalytical sciences; or M.S. with 10+ years.
- Strong scientific background and achievements in bioscience and translational research, ideally demonstrated by scientific publications, presentations, and/or patents.
- Proven track record of successfully working in research programs and teams.
- Strong understanding of drug discovery and development processes.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to think strategically and execute effectively.
- Experience collaborating with crossfunctional teams and external partners.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Demonstrate creative out of the box thinking to solve complex technical problems and champion innovative technologies to achieve project goals.
